Zamperla launches new integrated rides package at Adventureland

News
Zamperla Adventureland Resort

Draken Falls Super Flumez ride and the Flying Viking Junior Coaster form part of the park’s biggest investment to date

Zamperla, a leading ride manufacturer, is celebrating the launch of two new rides at Adventureland Resort, Iowa. The park’s biggest-ever investment includes the addition of Draken Falls, a Super Flumez ride, and the Flying Viking Junior Coaster.

Michael Coleman, North American sales manager, says: “This combination of attractions really is a perfect fit for Adventureland. Flying Viking offers a fantastic ‘first big coaster’ for the park’s youngest visitors and Draken Falls is a callback to the Log Flume, one of the park’s most beloved attractions that was removed nearly a decade ago.”

The Flying Viking Junior Coaster is Zamperla’s adaptable platform, designed for family audiences. Suitable for riders 90cm (36in) and taller, this ride can be enjoyed by almost all members of the family. The ride features a twisting drop, airtime hill, and speed alley.

The Draken Falls Super Flumez is a 345 m (1,131 ft) long water coaster with a ride height of 12m (39 ft), which combines a conventional log flume ride with the dramatic splash of a shoot-the-chutes.

Integrated rides package

Antonio Zamperla, Zamperla CEO, says: “We are so excited about this Integrated Rides package at Adventureland. These are classic concepts, but we innovated and created significant modern updates for both attractions.

“The Super Flumez has a unique hull attachment method with no bolts penetrating the structure, which reduces total cost of ownership. The Junior Coaster motors use the minimum amount of energy required and we are utilizing a new fiberglass attachment method that minimizes vibration.”

This is the latest Integrated Rides package from Zamperla, and combined, the rides offer nearly 1,000 pph. Draken Falls and the Flying Viking are designed to share the same space, and the rides intertwine with each other. This means that there is always movement in this area – the Junior Coaster flies around the flume structure and features a 180-degree turn around the Super Flumez supports, while the flume boats tuck underneath the roller coaster’s track.

Adam Sandy, roller coaster sales and marketing director at Zamperla, says: “Parques Reunidos continues to be a great partner for Zamperla. Last year we opened a coaster at Tusenfryd along with many flat rides. This year we have several projects with them, including these two impressive attractions. We appreciate their continued trust in us to supply two rides that will be popular with every member of the family that walks through Adventureland’s front gate.”

Zamperla announced the opening of its first Twister Freeform coaster earlier this year. Wild Mouse at Cedar Point debuted as part of the park’s expansion, Boardwalk. The inspiration for this new area was its history, taking three classic attractions from the park and moving them to this new space. A new eating area, the Grand Pavilion, was also created alongside the new Zamperla ride.
