Experiential Media Group (E/M Group), an industry leader in creating travelling exhibitions and experiences, has announced that TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition will go on show for the first time in New England in the fall.
TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition has been visited by over 35 million people across the globe. It is set to open in Boston, US, on 17 October and will be hosted by The Saunders Castle at Park Plaza, a former armoury and designated National Historic Landmark. The exhibition will include 250 authentic items retrieved from the wreck site by RMS Titanic, Inc.
Authentic experience
E/M Group and RMS Titanic, Inc. have selected an unparalleled collection of original Titanic artefacts which allow visitors to experience the true stories of Titanic passengers and crew. The items have been preserved and exhibited to the public to educate and explain the history of the Titanic. In addition, visitors can explore carefully recreated rooms, such as the sumptuous Grand Staircase.
Gautam Chandna, director of business development at E/M Group, says: “Boston eagerly awaits our Exhibition, which continues to set record-breaking attendance figures. The Exhibition’s continued success, as demonstrated in city after city, speaks to its broad appeal and exceptional quality.”
Titanic was a pivotal event in global history that has captivated audiences for decades, with true stories of heroism, love, fear, and difficult decisions as the “unsinkable” ocean liner met with disaster.
TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition transports visitors back to April 1912, when the ship made its first and last voyage. Guests receive a replica boarding pass as they follow the story of one of Titanic’s passengers, from the ship’s construction until the tragedy. The exhibition also explores the ongoing efforts to retrieve artefacts and preserve the Titanic wreck site for scientific analysis and historical preservation, so that future generations can appreciate and learn from it.
Key exhibits include:
- Davit Arm. The crane arm and mechanism is one of the 32 davits that launched the Titanic’s lifeboats during the disaster. The ship’s davits were designed and produced by Welin Davits & Engineering Company in the West Midlands, England. The unique “Quadrant, Double-Acting” design was the leading technology of its time for its safety and ease of use. The double-acting arm swung over the deck to pick up and drop rows of lifeboats to the water below. Each davit could store and lower up to four boats.
- Touch Piece. This artefact was originally positioned on the ship’s starboard side, between C and D Decks. The prominent holes formerly housed the rivets that anchored it to the ship. Visitors can touch this piece of history.
- Bollards. A cast iron mooring bollard from the Poop deck or after well deck. Bollards such as this were used to keep Titanic docked.
The E/M Group and RMST teams are preparing for four openings of the highly successful travelling exhibition in 2024, as it continues to show in various territories around the world.
Experiential Media Group (E/M Group) recently announced that TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition will open in Stuttgart, Germany, on 21 July 2024.
