Glasgow’s Kali Collective yoga studio is hosting a gothic yoga experience where guests will move to dark and moody music.
The ‘Gothy Sound & Movement Immersion’ workshop, which takes place on 2 August, is a 75-minute experience offering “dark, moody [and] tense Nine Inch Nails, Mogwai and Nick Cave sound”.
“This is an opportunity for you to be present with different layers of your body as the music guides you into new sensations and feelings,” says the Kali Collective website.

Additionally, guests can enjoy the experience in aerial silk, meaning they can hang in a silk in an elongated savasana (corpse pose) for the duration.
Steph Wall, Kali Collective founder, will serve as the event’s DJ and guide guests into restorative postures. She told the Herald the unique class was created for “weirdos like me”.
“When I hear about a trend, my immediate instinct is to challenge it,” she said. “Sound baths were the ‘thing’ and they were all the same. I wanted to do things differently because that’s what our community wants and expects. I think this will appeal to weirdos like me.
“A lot of yoga is about finding what works for you. When I’m practicing, I listen to the music I love, which is often intense and dark. Yoga shouldn’t be about expectations; it should be immersive and emotive – and that’s all about you doing you.”
She added, “I hope people will give this a try and give in to the yoga and the poses.”
Immersive wellness is one of blooloop’s top trends for this year. Recent developments in this area include an immersive spa in Texas from Meow Wolf co-founder Corvas Brinkerhoff.
