New cruise ship is on track to set sail in December

The Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line‘s next ship, has floated out of the Meyer Werft Shipyard to dock in the harbour.

Disney’s new cruise ship is on track to set sail in December. As it floated out of the building, “a scene of excitement greeted the ship, as a group of cheering spectators in Papenburg, Germany, gathered to watch the special construction milestone”, Disney said.

Construction on the Disney Treasure started in January 2023. The float out celebrates the completion of the ship’s exterior and is a maritime tradition. The ship was guided by a tugboat through the building’s narrow doorway.

The Disney Treasure is now ready for the finishing touches to its interior venues, which are themed to films such as AladdinCoco and Zootopia, as well as Disney parks experiences.

The Treasure “will bring brand-new stories to life, blending one-of-a-kind experiences with the extraordinary entertainment, world-class dining and unparalleled hospitality that make every sailing so memorable”, said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line.

“As we chart a course for adventure, we’re so excited for families to discover the excitement and exploration that awaits onboard the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.”

For the first time at Disney Cruise Line, the Treasure will offer several venues inspired by Disney parks experiences. These include a Haunted Mansion bar and a Jungle Cruise-themed lounge.

Additionally, the ship features a bar themed to The Aristocats called Scat Cat Lounge.

The Treasure is part of a major expansion of the Disney Cruise Line fleet. This includes the new Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure ships, as well as a new ship to sail from Japan.

Disney Cruise Line has been busy dropping new details for the Destiny, which boasts experiences inspired by Marvel, The Lion King, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians.
