Firm will serve as visualisation partner for the experience, which will explore the theme ‘Saving Lives’

Barco, the technology company focusing on innovative visualisation solutions, has been appointed as visualisation partner for the Belgian pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka.

The firm will play a key role in delivering the visitor experience, and together with its consortium partners is dedicated to creating a pavilion that provides guests from all over the world with an amazing, immersive experience.

Celebrating technology & humanity

The pavilion’s visitor journey was recently revealed during a press conference led by Commissioner-General Pieter De Crem and H.E. Jehanne Roccas, chair of the BelExpo Board, and aims to engage audiences through a combination of innovative technology and artistic direction.

Taking inspiration from the 2025 World Expo’s sub-theme ‘Saving Lives’, the Belgian pavilion will tell a story about advancing humanity, urging renewal in the face of contemporary challenges and contemplating our ability to change and evolve.

A group of creative and technologically advanced companies were selected by BelExpo and the Buildings Agency to share the contract, following a government tender procedure. The consortium includes Dirty Monitor, Tempora, Profirst, ShowTex, and Barco.

Barco’s industry-leading laser projection technology will be central to the pavilion’s visitor journey. This will honour both technology and humanity in an immersive, multisensory experience. The firm is in a unique position to enhance the Belgian pavilion’s healthcare story, given its reputation in both medical imaging and entertainment visualisation.

The World Expo will open on 13 April 2025, and the construction of the Belgian pavilion is progressing quickly.

Wouter Bonte, VP of sales for Barco Entertainment, says: “We’re incredibly honored to be part of such a prestigious collaboration. By combining our expertise in immersive projection technology with creative storytelling, the Belgian Pavilion will offer visitors an impactful experience reflecting Belgium’s healthcare innovation and leadership in profound ways.”

Barco recently shared details of two projects in China that illustrate how its projectors can meet the diverse challenges posed by different attractions. The firm has created vibrant experiences using its 18 UDX-4K22 and 4 UDX-4K32 projectors at Hengdian Dream Bund Film Experience Resort, and 75 laser projectors at Gansu Bamboo Slips Museum.
