Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville is expanding its Halloween event this year to offer additional operating days and activities.
The theme park‘s third annual ‘Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom’ event is opening on 3 October and will now run Thursday through Sunday every week during October.
“We have seen incredible enthusiasm for Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom in its first two years, so we’re thrilled to give our guests even more value and opportunities for seasonal fun every week,” said Sarah Worrell, Kentucky Kingdom’s general manager.

“This year will be the best Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom we’ve ever produced, with expanded operating days and even more themed activities – there’s something for every member of the family to enjoy, and I can’t wait for our guests to experience it.”
As above, this year’s event will include more activities, including additional trick-or-treat stations, the new ‘Pumpkin Rumble Game Show’, and the ‘Pumpkins Meal Plan’ tasting experience.
Guests will also enjoy 1,000 giant illuminated pumpkins, four huge sculptures, more than a dozen photo opportunities, live music, stilt walkers, seasonal F&B, a themed parade, a hay maze, and family dance parties.
Halloween is arriving at US theme parks earlier than ever before as operators like Disney, Six Flags and Universal take advantage of spooky season’s growing popularity to boost sales.
Growth of seasonal events
Jakob Wahl, IAAPA’s chief executive, told Reuters: “We actually see a growth every year in terms of Halloween events, not only North America, but across the world.”
Edithann Ramey, Six Flags’ chief marketing officer, said: “It’s become this time of the year that’s grown in explosive ways. It’s become a billion-dollar industry in the last five years.”
Operated by Herschend, Kentucky Kingdom is Kentucky’s largest amusement and water park. Spanning 67 acres, it houses more than 70 rides and attractions.
