Europe‘s first spinning, kinetic-powered family roller coaster opens soon

Parc Astérix in France is set to open a new attraction called Cétautomatix, billed as Europe‘s first spinning, kinetic-powered family roller coaster.

Launching on 18 August, the new coaster features steep inclines, tight bends and unpredictable acceleration, a press release says.

Located in the theme park‘s Gaul zone, Cétautomatix is inspired by the village’s famous blacksmith of the same name in French, or Fulliautomatix.

The storyline is as follows:

“Known for his fiery temper, [Cétautomatix] is embarking on a new adventure with a brand-new range of vehicles, specially designed for visitors to the park.

“Visitors will have the exclusive opportunity to test them out in real-life conditions on a fast-paced test track.”

Cétautomatix will offer eight spinning cars, a track length of 420 metres, maximum speeds of 45 km/h, and a top height of 14 metres.

It is designed to be a family attraction for guests 1 metre and over, in line with Parc Astérix’s commitment to offering original, immersive attractions for all ages.

The park is home to 50 attractions and shows across six lands themed to the Roman Empire, the Vikings, Egypt, and more.

In 2023, Parc Astérix debuted its largest ever expansion with a €36 million themed area named Festival Toutatis, anchored by an Intamin multi LSM launch coaster.

Delphine Pons, CEO of Parc Astérix, told blooloop: “Toutatis is a big sensational ride, but does not suit all the people. We thought let’s go for a new area that is able to satisfy all kinds of visitors.”

She added, “The ride and the land are well received by the public. The visitor comments are really good.”
