Balich Wonder Studio, a global entertainment group creating award-winning ceremonies, brand experiences, immersive shows, and destination experiences, has shared details of It means Peace, an exclusive installation at Milan Design Week 2025 designed by Marco Balich for Interni magazine’s CRE-Action exhibition-event.
Marco Balich, creative director and chairman of Balich Wonder Studio, is a leader in the international live entertainment industry. His multi-award-winning projects, such as the production of 14 Olympic Ceremonies and countless major events around the world, are centred on emotion as the driving force of creative storytelling.
“At Balich Wonder Studio we deal with big events, but I would rather say we create experiences. All the projects we create have in common the desire to generate emotions, convey messages and values, bring a space of meaning to life and open up for reflection,” says Balich.
“Designing experiences is our focus: the results can be installations, shows or paths. To experience beauty, to experience harmony and joy, to stimulate reflection, to leave a legacy. This is my way of dismantling hatred, aggression and nurturing the action of peace.”
Sensory journey
It means Peace was designed by Balich and realised by Balich Wonder Studio with the support of Italian fine jewellery brand Pasquale Bruni.
The site-specific installation is located in an architectural corridor between the Orto di Brera and Via Fiori Oscuri, and transforms this from a utilitarian space into one of reflection.
Visitors enter through a scenic bottleneck, which seeks to create a feeling of unease with carbonised wooden planks and audio that evokes a war scenario
“At the end of this bottleneck is a space of light and harmony,” says Balich, “represented by an olive tree, a universal icon of peace and balance, a tangible sign of a goal achieved. “
As visitors progress through the passageway, they will encounter seven handcrafted blown neon “PEACE” signs, each in a different language. In the distance, voices read speeches by key figures in history whose actions inspired peace.
“And finally, a kind of ritual that also recalls the theme of Cre-Action; below the inscriptions, in fact, there are pools with floating lotus flowers, inspired by the jewellery of Pasquale Bruni, who made this work possible, where people are invited to light candles and leave messages of peace,” says Balich.
“The aim is clearly to embrace the word peace, to reintroduce it into our everyday language and turn it into action.”
Earlier this year, Balich Wonder Studio announced the appointment of Simone Ferrari as chief creative officer, responsible for the creative direction of the company’s Ceremonies and Special Projects departments.
