Otherworld, Ohio’s immersive art experience, celebrates its fourth anniversary this month. The venue in Columbus first opened to the public on 24 May 2019, after a two-year project to transform an abandoned sports authority venue. Over the past four years, Otherworld Columbus has achieved significant milestones and solidified its position as a leader in the immersive art industry.

To mark the occasion, Otherworld shares some highlights from the experience and from the journey so far.

Highlights from Otherworld

Inspiring Creativity. Otherworld Columbus has developed into a refuge for artistic expression, inspiring guests from all spheres of life. The installation has inspired many moments of awe, wonder, and artistic inspiration with its interactive exhibitions and thematic excursions.

Unforgettable Experiences. Otherworld Columbus has given visitors unmatched sensory adventures because of its painstakingly designed venues. The merging of colourful graphics, mystical sounds, and interactive features has created an immersive experience that whisks visitors away to distant lands.

Technological Innovations. Continually pushing the limits of both art and technology, Otherworld Columbus uses the most recent innovations to improve visitor experiences. The installation effortlessly combines cutting-edge technology, blurring the distinction between the actual and digital worlds. These technologies include virtual reality, augmented reality, and projection mapping.

Community Engagement. The dynamic and welcoming community that Otherworld Columbus has created draws artists, enthusiasts, and curious visitors alike. The installation has given people a platform for shared creativity through collaborative workshops and events, enabling people to interact, learn, and broaden their artistic horizons.

Visitor Impact: Millions of people have visited Otherworld Columbus since it first opened, mesmerised by its immersive show. The work has had a profound effect on visitors, as seen by the testimonials praising its power to mesmerise and arouse curiosity.

Pushing the boundaries of immersive art

As Otherworld Columbus marks its fourth anniversary, the company is still dedicated to challenging artistic norms, embracing innovation, and giving visitors unforgettable experiences. The installation has exciting future development plans, including the launch of a second location in Philadelphia this summer. Otherworld intends to carry on developing immersive installations and partnerships that guarantee to push the boundaries of immersive art.

One guest said:

“Genuinely impressed with the art and feel of the rooms. Had a blast with a group of friends trying to solve all the puzzles and completing the overarching puzzle. Went in expecting to stay for an hour or 2, ended up staying roughly 4 or 5 hours. 110% worth the price.”

Another guest commented: “Had an exceptional experience with my Dad. Very interesting works of art and it was fun!”

Otherworld Columbus extends an invitation to both loyal fans and recent visitors to join in the celebration. All through the year, visitors can look forward to unique exhibitions, spectacular pop-up performances, and brand-new installations.

Earlier this year, blooloop spoke to Jordan Renda, founder of Otherworld, to find out more about the attraction’s ethos, what visitors can expect, and the plans for the new venue in Philadelphia.
