Leading specialist designer and manufacturer of continuous belays, Kanopeo, has delivered it’s Speedrunner system to RiverWorks, Buffalo, New York.

The new covered ropes courses are above the ice rink area of the attraction, which is set on the banks of the Buffalo River in the city’s premier waterfront entertainment destination. Whilst not being fully enclosed, guests can enjoy the outdoor feel but the attraction is able to operate in poor weather.

Both courses are designed for children aged 7 years and up, with the lower course offering an introductory experience, whilst the higher course presents a more challenging one. The courses both have ten elements on them.

Kanopeo’s Speedrunner system features the industry-first self closing gap mechanism, designed to be durable and improve throughput at aerial attractions. Their systems have been installed in over 700 trails in 450 adventure parks across 56 countries.

“The ropes course works well for large groups—encouraging teammates develops program chemistry and improves communication skills within teams. For athletes, the ropes course is a perfect opportunity to improve balance and stability, while taking into account injury prevention. The course is great for all ages” said Matt Prime, Director of Recreation at RiverWorks.

The courses were designed and installed by Treetop Trekking USA, who were able to complete the project in a limited time frame.

“We came up with the idea in February and wanted it open by Memorial Day. We put a hard deadline in and Treetop Trekking made it happen. From conception to opening was just under 4 months. ”  said Prime.

Buffalo RiverWorks as a facility already surpassed Buffalo Bills NFL team for number of visitors per year. It is hoped the ropes courses will attract 10 to 15 thousand visitors this year.
