Storyland Studios continues to grow with expert new hires

Storyland Studios, the three-dimensional storytelling firm, has hired three new team members and promoted one other, as it continues to expand its client portfolio.

Storyland Studios is pleased to welcome three new leaders to the team, as well as celebrating the promotion of an existing member of staff. These four strategic positions will play a key role as the company continues to grow.

Storyland Studios Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Mel McGowan, says, “We provide leading-edge technology and unique storytelling for immersive, fully engaged guest experiences.

New team members

Bruce Green StorylandBruce Green joins Storyland as its new Senior Project Director, bringing over 20 years of experience as an Architect, Senior Designer and Creative Director to his new role. During his career, Green has taken a lead role on the Master Planning, Conceptual Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration of major projects across the globe.

He has experience of working within several sectors, including theme parks, wildlife and marine life parks, aquariums, waterparks, museum/science centres, resorts and hotels, retail stores and more. Green was the Architect on Gangster Shootout Attraction at Disney MGM Studio in Paris as well as the main entrance of Universal Studios in Hollywood, Knott’s Camp Snoop at the Mall of America, Warner Brother’s Movieworld in Spain and the Space Center in Germany.

Jeff Wyatt

Jeff Wyatt is the second new member of the Storyland team, where he will serve as Executive Director of Spatial Storytelling. Wyatt has more than 25 years of experience, working on the design and production of many highly-regarded attractions and exhibitions, for instance, Harry Potter, King Tut, Michael Jackson, Titanic, Vatican, NASA Space and more.

In the museum sector, Wyatt has helped to create memorable experiences for a range of cultural institutions. Before getting involved in the museum field, he was also a Project Manager for Universal Studios in Hollywood, where he worked on Terminator 2:3D and the Nickelodeon Live show. Wyatt holds an architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley as well as MBA from the University of Texas, San Antonio.

Clifford Champion

Storyland Studios is also celebrating the return of Clifford Champion who takes on the role of Chief Technology Officer. Clifford has worked in technology and R&D for 15 years and has expertise in the fields of games, interactive media, AR/VR experiences, cloud applications and AI/machine learning.

He has contributed his skills for AAA games on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii while working at Havok (Intel, Microsoft), designing real-time physics and animation solutions for fan favourites such as Fallout and developing scalable solutions for the virtual world Second Life.

Clifford has also led R&D for platform technology and K-12 STEM experiences at AV/VR company zSpace, Inc. and holds degrees from UCLA and UCSD in Mathematics and Computer Science respectively. In addition to this, he is currently studying Global Business and Technology at Peking University in China.

Michael Melilli Storyland Studios

Michael Melilli

Michael Melilli joined the team in 2006 and has now been appointed to the role of Director of Story Development. This experiential storyteller has more than 17 years of experience in the field of immersive experiences.

Melilli has worked with various film and television productions companies, including the Jim Henson Company. He has overseen the story development of over 75 experience-based projects including the Las Vegas Mob Experience at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino and the THEA award-winning Poverty EncounterHe has also worked on projects based on iconic IP, such as Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Recently, McGowan spoke to Blooloop about the development of Storyland Studios, along with Chief Strategy Officer Ben Thompson and Art Director Josh Steadman.
