Walt Disney World Resort will no longer offer Disney’s Magical Express airport transportation for arrivals from 1 January 2022.
Disney announced the removal of the popular airport transport bus service in a blog post. The service will continue to operate throughout 2021 for new and existing bookings.
Disney continue to “evolve the guest experience”
However, when bookings open for Walt Disney World Resort holidays in 2022, guests will no longer have the option to book a place on the Magical Express bus.
Disney explained that they are constantly evolving “the guest experience to best suit the changing times”. Guests now have more flexibility around transportation, such as ride-share services.
Complimentary transportation around the parks, such as the buses, monorails and Disney Skyliner, will still be available.
Guests express their disappointment at the change
Several comments on this blog post expressed disappointment at the news. Many people mentioned how convenient the Magical Express is, especially when travelling with small children.
One comment said that “having small children that require car seats, DME was easy- no checking car seats, no dealing with rental cars, no paying resort parking fees, etc. ride share is great, but really difficult for car seats! It’s a big reason to choose Disney over other comparable theme parks.”
As part of the Disney Magical Express service, guests flying from within America can check in their luggage and it gets delivered to their Disney resort automatically. For one person who commented, this was “a key element” to their Disney holiday, because it shows how the company has “thought through every problem someone may have”.
Park Hopper returns
Disney also confirmed in the blog post that Park Hopping is returning to Walt Disney World. This popular option was removed when it first reopened last year. Now, guests will be able to visit more than one park in a day again.
And as part of Walt Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, Disney Resort hotel guests will be able to enter the parks 30 minutes before they open every day. This replaces Extra Magic Hours, which Disney confirms will not return at the moment. This is to help spread visitors around the resort and allow for COVID safety measures to remain in place.
New robot golf carts were recently introduced at golf courses in Walt Disney World. The TempoWalk carts use GPS and Bluetooth technology to carry guests’ golf clubs around the course.
