Record-breaking roller coaster opens this year

Canada’s Wonderland has shared the first ride-through video of AlpenFury, Canada’s longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster.

AlpenFury is a record-breaking roller coaster opening this year, with the track now fully installed.

After reaching this construction milestone, Canada’s Wonderland sent a clearance-check crawler along the track, which captured the unofficial POV footage (see below).

When it debuts, AlpenFury will be the park’s 19th roller coaster, and its fourth to interact with the Wonder Mountain structure.

On the new coaster, riders will be launched out of Wonder Mountain’s summit before a thrilling race across the theme park.

The upcoming attraction reaches speeds of 115 km/h and offers nine inversions – more than any other launch coaster in the world.

AlpenFury is a world-class attraction, and we’re excited for the unique thrills it will offer our guests,” said Phil Liggett, general manager at Canada’s Wonderland, last year.

“The combination of being blasted out of Wonder Mountain, and then racing through nine inversions one right after the other, is going to be an experience guests won’t soon forget.”

Canada’s Wonderland is now owned by Six Flags following the company’s recent merger with Cedar Fair.

New coasters at Six Flags parks

More parks in the Six Flags portfolio to introduce new coasters this year include Six Flags Great America and Cedar Point.

Six Flags Great America opened Wrath of Rakshasa, the steepest and most inverted dive coaster in the world, late last month.

Meanwhile, Cedar Point is opening Siren’s Curse, set to be North America’s tallest, longest and fastest tilt coaster, on 28 June.
