CAP.Co, the adventure play specialist, is highlighting several successful recent projects, including an accessible playground on the island of Bermuda.
CAP.Co is proud to announce that it has recently opened several exciting new adventure play facilities, such as the Boundless Playground in Bermuda, Fritz the Pike’s Playground in Norfolk, UK, Nansleden Adventure Play in Cornwall, UK and Little Beaulieu in the UK’s New Forest national park.
The Boundless Playground
This new playground, within the WindReach accessible facility in Bermuda, offers a fun and inclusive experience for all visitors, regardless of their abilities. WindReach is also home to a multi-purpose activity centre, petting zoo and therapeutic riding centre. The organisation works to enrich the lives of people with disabilities and special needs, both physical and sensory.
The Boundless Playground also introduces a whole new level of accessibility to allow people of all ages and abilities to play together. The playground features a new design, a companion slide which allows two people of differing abilities to slide down together and includes a straightforward transition from the slide to a wheelchair at the end.
Completing a project on a small island required careful consideration and planning but by working closely with the WindReach team and following a strategic approach, the CAP.Co team was able to finish the project on schedule.
Fritz the Pike’s Playground
Fritz the Pike’s Playground is now open at Fritton Lake, a members-only holiday club on the Somerleyton Estate near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. Guests can enjoy the lakeside as well as 1000 acres of woodland and rewilded farmland, with natural activities available such as wild swimming, yoga and watersports.
Fritz the Pike’s playground has play elements for toddlers as well as slightly older children. Thanks to its chestnut timbers, the new play area has a rustic and natural feel to fit with the rest of the space. It also features a fun motif, Fritz the Giant Pike, based on a Fritton Lake legend. There are plans to more adventurous play for older children in the next phase of construction.
Other projects
Last year, CAP.Co was asked to design and build six adventure play spaces across the Nansledan community in Cornwall, the Duchy of Cornwall’s extension to Newquay. The first of these is now complete.
This new play area, called Skrambla, includes elevated wooden huts, linked by crawl tunnels and walkways and is set within a seaweed stick maze.
CAP.Co is also celebrating the recent opening of Little Beaulieu, a new play area in the grounds of Beaulieu itself, on the edge of the New Forest national park. It includes fun elements such as slides, a zip wire and a fireman’s pole.
Back in March 2020, CAP.Co announced a competition in response to the coronavirus lockdown, challenging people to come up with a new design for a unique playground.
