The Walt Disney Company is attempting to fill job openings as the summer season nears by offering $1,000 hiring bonuses to new staff at Walt Disney World Resort, according to the company’s website.
Disney World’s new housekeepers and culinary cast members will receive the bonus if they stay on the job for at least 90 days. The first payment of $250 is given after 90 days and the second sum of $750 is paid after 150 days.
“To be eligible for the sign-on bonus, cast members must be in the position continuously for at least 90 days after hire and be employed by the Walt Disney Company at time of payment,” Disney said.

Housekeepers at Walt Disney World Resort receive a starting rate of $16 an hour, while culinary cast member salaries start at $18 an hour in Orlando.
Disney revealed plans to lay off an additional 4,000 cast members last year, after sharing plans to eliminate 28,000 jobs in its parks division in California and Florida.
Disney said it has rehired more than three-quarters of workers affected by furloughs and layoffs, Bloomberg reports.

Walt Disney World was recently hiring in preparation for increased capacity. According to Disney Careers, jobs were available in attractions, custodial, merchandise and quick service foods.
Six Flags is also offering bonuses of up to $1,000 for employees who join by July 1. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom’s website says staff are “eligible to earn a bonus of 10% of your total wages earned between July 1 and September 12”.
Earlier this year, Universal Orlando was looking to hire more than 2,000 team members. Cedar Point announced plans to hire 6,500 employees for the 2021 season back in March.
