Bison World, a proposed entertainment park in Jamestown, North Dakota, will feature safari and zip line experiences, as well as the North American Bison Discovery Center and Bison World Festival Theater.
The final plans for Bison World were presented by Bob McTyre, president of Apogee Attractions, the project’s designer, the Jamestown Sun reports. Apogee Attractions would serve as the project developer and operator.
“We say it is a family facility, but it will have things for everybody in the family from children to adults,” McTyre told the publication.
Bison World would occupy around 120 acres of land adjacent to the National Bison Museum. The attraction, previously referred to as Buffalo City Park, has a preliminary cost estimate of $72m.
Visitors will get the chance to see the park’s bison population in pastureland via the Bison Safari, which takes guests on a guided tour in special vehicles designed for safe viewing.
New attraction for Jamestown
The Great Plains Air Race is a zip line experience that takes visitors above the bison herd, while the Aerial Skyway is an aerial tram that carries visitors across the pasture to the world’s largest buffalo monument.
Additionally, Bison World will feature a Frontier Village, as well as the Bison World Festival Theater, a 1,500-seat outdoor amphitheatre with lawn seating for another 1,500 people.
The North American Bison Discovery Center will be a museum-style attraction with display areas, a cafe and gift shop, and two theatres – the Discovery Theater and Sacred Bison Theater.
Designed for children, the Dakota Corral will be a play area with playground equipment, a bison-shaped maze, and a North Dakota-themed carousel. Costumed characters for kids would include Buster and Becky Bison.
Investment will come from the Legacy Fund in North Dakota, repaid with interest from Bison World’s operating profits. “We are a perfectly positioned project for our Legacy Fund,” said Brian Lunde, an advocate for Bison World.
