Universal has announced that the first Super Nintendo World in the US is set to launch in 2023 at Universal Studios Hollywood, offering an innovative and immersive new land in California.
Created in partnership with Nintendo and Universal Creative, Super Nintendo World first opened at Universal Studios Japan in 2021. The attraction immerses visitors in the world of Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach.
Super Nintendo World features exhilarating entertainment and innovative technology inspired by Nintendo’s characters and video games. The land at Universal Studios Hollywood will be located within a newly expanded area.
It will feature a groundbreaking ride, interactive areas, and themed shopping and dining. To mark the announcement, Universal Studios Hollywood is set to launch a Nintendo-themed takeover of its Feature Presentation retail store.

Located inside the park’s main entrance, the retail store will be selling merchandise including Mario and Luigi-themed apparel, iconic character hats, and plush characters such as Yoshi, Mario, Bowser and Luigi.
Last year, Universal Studios Japan confirmed that it is expanding its Super Nintendo World land to include the world’s first Donkey Kong-themed area, scheduled to open in 2024.
“Super Nintendo World creates a whole new level of theme park entertainment and has quickly become an exciting, must-do experience for our guests,” said J.L. Bonnier, president and CEO of Universal Studios Japan.
“We are thrilled to continue working with Nintendo as we fulfil our vision to bring their characters and stories to life. Our new Donkey Kong themed area will bring even more excitement and fun to the Super Nintendo World experience.”
Super Nintendo World is also heading to Florida as part of Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort, and is being developed at Universal Studios Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa. Epic Universe is expected to open in 2025.
