Walt Disney World has increased the cost of tickets to three of its four theme parks with the introduction of new park-specific prices, starting on 8 December.
The fares remain unchanged at Animal Kingdom, but are rising at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
“Magic Kingdom Park will be priced at or above our other theme parks due to the incredible demand as it remains the most-visited theme park in the world,” Disney said in a statement.
As of 8 December, one-day, one-park tickets will cost:
Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $109-$159
Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $124-$179
Epcot: $114-$179
Magic Kingdom Park: $124-$189
The $189 ticket to Magic Kingdom only applies for nine days between Christmas and New Year. The $109 ticket applies to only Animal Kingdom and will be available on 20 days of the year.
A spokesperson for Disney told CNN: “We continue to focus on providing guests with the best, most memorable Disney experience, and we’re doing that by growing our theme parks with incredible new attractions and offerings.
“We are also making planning easier with new one-day tickets that automatically include a guest’s theme park reservation and continue to provide a wide range of options to visit throughout the year, including our lowest priced ticket of $109, which has not changed in more than four years.”
$31bn investment over the last 10 years
In October, Disneyland increased its ticket prices ahead of the ‘Disney 100 Years of Wonder’ celebrations. The resort added a new ‘tier 0’ category for its cheapest one-day tickets.
Disney says it has invested more than $31 billion in its theme parks over the last 10 years, including Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
In an earnings report earlier this month, Disney’s theme parks division reported $7.4bn in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2022, an increase of 36 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
