The upcoming exploration trail is inspired by Disney’s 2016 animated film Moana.

Walt Disney World has shared another look at the new Moana-themed Journey of Water experience coming to Epcot in late 2023.

Available to watch below, Good Morning America (GMA) shared a sneak peek at the upcoming exploration trail inspired by Disney’s 2016 animated film Moana.

Reid Ekman, lead concept designer at Walt Disney Imagineering, told GMA: “As guests enter into the experience, we really want them to be surrounded by this lush Polynesian environment, surrounded with water, and a few familiar characters from the film.

“We have probably a dozen characters that are hidden in nooks and crannies throughout the experience and within the waterways.

“There is one very recognisable character and very present character and that’s Te Fiti. She’ll be at the heart of the experience, greeting guests as they travel through.”

Disney’s first attraction based on Moana is located in the World Nature neighbourhood of Epcot. Guests will enjoy and play with magical, living water.

Disney World has also reopened Magic Kingdom‘s Walt Disney World Railroad for the first time since 2018. It now features a refreshed track, as well as “exciting new sounds and voices”, said Walt Disney Imagineering.

“A new conductor has assumed the role, carrying on the long tradition of warm welcomes and amusing anecdotes while adding fresh commentary and story to the journey.”

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is set to close for a refurbishment on 20 February 2023. It will reopen in summer 2023.

“This rocktastic attraction will resume its super-stretch limo rides in summer 2023,” says Disney World‘s website.

In November, the Walt Disney Company announced that Bob Iger was returning as CEO. “I am extremely optimistic for the future of this great company and thrilled to be asked by the board to return as its CEO,” he said.
