The theme park would be home to military-themed attractions and a museum.

Melaka in Malaysia could be home to a $45 million military theme park, built by a Hong Kong-based investment company.

Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, the Melaka investment, industry, entrepreneur development and cooperatives committee chairman, said the plans have been submitted by the investor’s representative.

“This is an initial proposal and I found it very interesting at the project presentation yesterday,” he said (via EdgeProp).

“It was proposed that [the theme park] will be developed on Melaka Museum Corporation land.”

“Based on the proposal, the theme park will be equipped with various military-styled activities for children and adults in addition to a display of military vehicles at the military museum,” Ab Rauf added.

New theme parks rise in Malaysia

Additionally, he said the state government hopes to attract tourists from Dubai and China with the opening of more than three new luxury hotels in 2023.

Last year, the developer of Malaysia’s Melaka Gateway project signed an agreement with an investment holding company to develop a world-class theme park with 24 rides and attractions.

The theme park is scheduled to be completed by early 2026. It is expected to attract more than five million visitors annually.

In early 2022, Genting Malaysia’s outdoor theme park at Resorts World Genting (RWG) opened to the public. Genting SkyWorlds covers 26 acres and features 26 rides and attractions.

Elsewhere, Escape Penang has opened two new attractions to celebrate its 10th anniversary, Malaysia’s first ski slope and the ‘Dead Sea Pool’ experience. Escape Penang is owned and operated by Sim Leisure Group.
