Furthering the advancement of innovative XR
The AIS is best known for the coveted Lumiere Awards, which recognise notable technical and artistic accomplishments in film and television. Martin Scorsese, Ang Lee, Jon Favreau, and Jeffrey Katzenberg have all won Lumiere Awards in the past. In 2023 James Cameron, Guillermo del Toro, Baz Luhrmann, and Damien Chazelle also received recognition, while Immotion won the Best Use of VR award for its groundbreaking GORILLA TREK documentary experience.
Immotion’s Emmy Award-winning content team and cutting-edge developers use the most recent XR technology to create immersive productions like GORILLA TREK for institutions like aquariums and zoos that aim to educate and inspire visitors with a message of conservation. Over 40 zoos and aquariums throughout the world, from Chicago to Shanghai, Las Vegas to London, have Immotion’s VR theatres, which blend 360° 3D experiences with motion-based seating.
To date, Immotion’s VR experiences have been used by more than two million individuals worldwide.
“I’m honored to be joining the AIS’s Board of Governors,” says Findley. “Immotion’s mission of pioneering immersive edutainment technology to spread the gospel of conservation dovetails perfectly with AIS’s mission to promote the advancement of cutting-edge entertainment technologies in the service of the artists’ vision. I look forward to contributing toward the further advancement of innovative XR.”
Immotion recently premiered its latest VR adventure, Flight of the Mantas, at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) mid-year meeting in Oklahoma City.
