HOLOPLOT, a science-based immersive audio company, has launched a brand-new product, the X2, which has been created to set a new standard in sound reinforcement for speech-based and multi-content applications.
The newly developed X2 from HOLOPLOT incorporates 3D Audio-Beamforming and Wave Field Synthesis, the same core technologies as the multi-award winning X1, but wrapped in a more compact hardware design. This makes it more suitable for integration projects in a range of industries.
Optimised for speech applications, the eagerly awaited X2 builds on successes from HOLOPLOT’s early years when, during testing of a technological prototype, some of the highest Speech Transmission Index (STI) values ever recorded on a railway station platform were obtained.
A Matrix Array loudspeaker, the Modul 30 (MD30) includes 30 full-range drivers in a single-tiered matrix configuration. In addition to ensuring seamless and adaptable integration, X2 makes use of clever software-based optimisation to improve the design and performance of sound systems.
Keeping in line with Matrix Array principles
In order to conceptualise the product, HOLOPLOT engaged Klas Dalbjorn as product manager, drawing on his 30 years of experience in pro audio and his time at Lab.gruppen and Powersoft.
“When setting out to design X2 it was obvious we needed to stay in line with HOLOPLOT’s Matrix Array principles,” explains Dalbjorn.
“We wanted to bring the same unprecedented digital control over sound achieved with X1 and translate it to delivering unsurpassed intelligibility and directionality for typical install use cases such as auditoria, PA/VA applications, or houses of worship. Form factor and power-to-size ratio were key considerations from the get-go. X2 is optimized for speech applications, but can reliably support music content reproduction.”
By minimising undesired reflections, X2 is specifically designed to address long-standing acoustic difficulties, considerably reducing the need for acoustic treatment and maintaining consistent and clear audio experiences. The architectural integrity of any room is preserved with X2, which may be covertly installed behind acoustically transparent screens or wall panels, while transmission loss is mitigated by HOLOPLOT’s optimisation algorithms.
Despite its relatively compact size, X2 maintains the superior sound management that distinguishes HOLOPLOT. The X2 is a practical option for a number of locations thanks to its straightforward, intuitive mounting frame, which enables clean and effective installation. X2, which is based on the modular Matrix Array concepts of X1, may be easily scaled to satisfy the requirements of a variety of settings.
X2 is the best option for safety-critical applications like train stations and airports because it recognises the fundamental importance of clear communication in public address and voice alarm applications.
HOLOPLOT’s pursuit of “audio perfection”
X2 was designed to withstand harsh settings and is capable of withstanding high temperatures, high humidity, and water exposure. Due to its toughness, X2 can be deployed in outdoor settings and other challenging environments without sacrificing performance or longevity. The MD30 module delivers consistent, high-quality audio performance, regardless of the temperature or circumstances, whether it is installed in a tropical resort, a humid indoor pool area, or sizable outdoor congregation locations.
Along with the introduction of X2, HOLOPLOT also announced the release of a brand-new version of HOLOPLOT Plan, its sound system design programme. It now supports the design and simulation of HOLOPLOT sound systems with X2 Audio Modules in addition to a number of other enhancements.
“X2 embodies our relentless pursuit of audio perfection, continuing our journey to set a new benchmark for sound control and performance,” says Michael Kastner, head of product at HOLOPLOT.
“Our aim is to provide a transformative solution that achieves exceptional speech intelligibility and sound quality in even the most challenging acoustic spaces, while ensuring minimal intrusion on the aesthetics of the project environment. We believe X2 delivers on this, and is set to redefine how society engages with sound.”
Earlier this year, HOLOPLOT supplied its X1 Matrix Array to Lightroom in London, installed by partner Creative Technology, where the audio system is now delivering a harmonious marriage of narration and soundtrack for ‘DAVID HOCKNEY: BIGGER & CLOSER (not smaller and further away)’.
