Event, the experience design agency, is celebrating the success of its project Oman Across Ages, which has been shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival 2023 in the completed buildings, culture category.

The company will present the project to the judging panel at the World Architecture Festival at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, which takes place from 29 November – 1 December.

Recognising outstanding buildings

The World Architecture Festival shortlist recognises the most outstanding newly completed buildings and landscapes. It also celebrates the most inspiring upcoming architectural projects. The shortlist covers projects in 33 categories, spanning residential, cultural, and creative reuse.

Oman Across Ages is one of 16 shortlisted projects in the completed buildings, culture category.

The live judging is a highlight of the festival programme, which also includes keynotes and presentations from 76 speakers, architectural tours, exhibits and networking, and a gala dinner. The festival also features the WAFX awards, which champion innovative architecture and design projects with a focus on global issues such as sustainability, ethics, and health.

Oman Across Ages

Event provided master planning, interpretative planning, exhibition and graphic design and creative direction for the Oman Across Ages Museum, which opened in March 2023.

The museum was the vision of the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said. The museum celebrates the creation of a nation and the endeavours of its people. It seeks to encourage young Omanis to learn about their country’s rich history.

The museum offers a combination of expansive exhibition spaces and innovative AV presentations. Object displays are paired with archival and new video material, photography, and a considered approach to augmented reality.

A collection of virtual experiences allows guests to travel back in time, and a 360-degree theatre with a moving floor offers an extraordinary tour of Oman’s economic environment. Large media pillars separate the History and Renaissance Galleries, which use historical artefacts on an architectural scale to illustrate the story of HM Sultan Qaboos’ ascension to the throne.

Impressive exhibition spaces provided opportunities to work on an enormous scale, with some spaces soaring to over 20 metres high, and a permanent exhibition space spanning 9,000 metres.

Event has recently been appointed to develop the exhibition plans for the final stage of the Natural History Museum of Denmark’s prestigious new building, planned to open to visitors in 2025.
