Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, exhibited at IAAPA Expo 2023 in Orlando, Florida, last week. During the trade show, the firm won a Brass Ring Award in the category of Major Ride/Attraction Class A: Product Cost of More Than US $3 Million, for the Dome Ride Theatre that opened earlier this year at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.
In addition, the company was recognised with the Impact Award, which is awarded to a winner of one of the Best New Product categories (not including the Best New Product Concept Award). The Impact Award celebrates the attraction that, in the opinion of the judges, had or will have the most impact on the attractions industry.
A one-of-a-kind experience
SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, which opened to the public in May 2023, is the first SeaWorld Park outside of the US. It features eight different immersive realms with animal encounters, rides and entertainment, as well as retail and dining experiences.
The attraction’s Dome Ride Theater offers a one-of-a-kind immersive experience, thanks to its 17-metre diameter full sphere with 75 million pixels and two times 6k LED technology, as well as the tilting and rotating motion system, supplied by Intamin. The sphere accommodates 80 people, and the experience is further enhanced by in-seat audio and 4D effects.
The company says: “Intamin is immensely proud to have supplied the Dome Ride Theater, in collaboration with our partner Attraktion, to SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Together we provide visitors with a thrilling and unforgettable adventure!”
Also during IAAPA Expo 2023, Intamin revealed details of the new Falcons Flight coaster coming to Six Flags Qiddiya in Saudi Arabia. This will be the tallest, fastest, and longest rollercoaster in the world and Daniel Schoppen, vice president of design and development at Intamin, described it as “the roller coaster evolution of the century.”
