Busch Gardens Williamsburg has announced an opening date for its restored Loch Ness Monster roller coaster.
Loch Ness Monster, the world’s first interlocking loop coaster, reopens on 10 May. The 46-year-old coaster will offer new thrilling elements, an enhanced storyline, and innovative effects. Riders will travel through Scottish-themed terrain on a refurbished steel track.
The ride begins with an improved queue experience and continues with the lift hill climb, guided by a new soundtrack. During the first drop, guests will spot something monstrous lurking beneath the water.
After plummeting more than 100 feet, riders will race towards the first of two interlocking vertical loops, travelling at up to 60 miles per hour. After this, they emerge into a spiralling tunnel, traverse a helix, and meet Nessie in her shadowy cave lair.
Opened in 1978, Loch Ness Monster is a registered landmark with the American Coaster Enthusiasts non-profit organisation.
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is also set to open a new suspended coaster called Phoenix Rising this spring.
New experiences at SeaWorld parks
“For several decades, we have committed to delivering great thrills and one-of-a-kind experiences for our guests,” Marc Swanson, CEO of United Parks & Resorts, said last year.
“We are excited to continue fulfilling that promise with both the addition of Phoenix Rising and the restoration of Loch Ness Monster.”
Several new attractions and experiences are coming to SeaWorld parks this year, including the new Penguin Trek coaster at SeaWorld Orlando and a jellyfish experience at SeaWorld San Diego. Catapult Falls has already debuted at SeaWorld San Antonio.
