SSA Group Leaders in Diversity Awards

SSA Group, a best-in-class provider of integrated guest services, is celebrating the success of IDEA + Belonging at SSA, its DEAI team who have been honoured in the Denver Business Journal’s Leaders in Diversity Awards.

The Leaders in Diversity Awards were founded by Denver Business Journal to recognise and celebrate advocates for equality within its community. The awards acknowledge excellent organisations as well as prominent individuals who are making a significant contribution to promoting equality in all areas of diversity, including sexual orientation, gender, age, disability, race, ethnicity, and religion.

The winners were honoured in an awards cocktail reception on 20 June.

Commitment to diversity & inclusion

SSA Group works with cultural attractions to drive revenue, support innovation, and improve the guest experience. Its vision extends beyond business and it works to invest in people and create value to build a positive legacy.

The firm focuses on local hiring to reflect the diverse communities in which it operates. As a result, its team is richly diverse with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. All employees are encouraged to share their thoughts on DEAI through the firm’s open-door policy, Employee Resource Groups and the dedicated IDEA + Belonging Department.

Its initiatives include the Apprenticeship Program, which aims to promote diversity in leadership and management through mentoring, specialised training, and internal career development. Looking ahead, SSA will build on this activity with The Momentum Project. This will provide individualised growth paths for individuals at different points in their careers to promote a more diverse, inclusive, and dynamic workplace.

Speaking to Denver Business Journal, McNicholas said: “Through our DEAI initiatives, we’ve learned that this journey is continuous and requires constant adaptation and resilience. Mistakes are inevitable, but they are also opportunities for growth and learning. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is unwavering, and we understand the importance of persistent effort and adaptability in these efforts.”

He continued: “Diversity, equity and inclusion are not just features of a strong workplace and healthy culture – they play an important role in maintaining a workplace’s competitive advantage. In this time of rapid social change and uncertainty, it is more important than ever to recognize businesses and leaders who are effectively promoting authentic DEI in the workplace.”

Last month, SSA Group announced that its partner entity SSA Ventures has appointed David Rosenberg to head hospitality innovation, sustainability efforts and growth.
