UK zoo provides a Gen Z-style tour

Northumberland Zoo has gone viral on TikTok with a new video starring its deadpan directors as they provide a Gen Z-style tour of the venue.

The marketing stunt features Northumberland Zoo directors Brian and Linda Bradley using words and phrases like “brat”, “slay”, “main character energy”, “ick”, “smol” and “slay”.

The clip is captioned: “Letting the Gen-Z staff write the zoo marketing script.”

In the opening of the video, Brian says: “Northumberland Zoo hits different.” He later points at a river and suggests, “If you’re having a menty b [mental breakdown], river walk.”

Linda shows off a goat as she says “g.o.a.t”, which means greatest of all time, and in one of the exhibits, Brian says: “It’s giving Amazon rainforest.”

“We’re amped for you to visit,” Linda adds.

At the time of writing, the TikTok video has been viewed 6.7 million times. It has been liked more than 1.1 million times.

The zoo has also posted a blooper video, which is captioned: “This is how difficult it was to train directors for viral Gen-Z marketing video.”

Maxine Bradley, zoo manager and the daughter of the new TikTok stars, told ITV: “It’s weird for me because I’ve made my parents go viral around the world. Everyone finds it funny but I find it weird.”

Maxine told the publication that visitors have been coming to the zoo for selfies with Brian and Linda.

Northumberland Zoo is a 20-acre destination home to more than 80 different species.
