Cherwell District Council has shared a brief update on Puy du Fou’s plans for a £300 million UK theme park near Bicester in Oxfordshire.
Last year, Puy du Fou started looking for its first UK site within a 40-mile radius of Oxford. The company recently said it plans to build the new attraction in Cherwell by the M40. It held a period of public engagement in July.
In a new statement to the Oxford Mail, a spokesperson for Cherwell District Council said: “On Puy du Fou from our side, we’ve not received an application from them.”

In July, a spokesperson for the council said: “We are aware that Puy du Fou is consulting with local communities as they prepare their plans.
“We wait with interest to see what proposals emerge. They will of course need to be submitted to us for consideration through the planning process.
“We encourage residents to take the opportunity to engage with the promoters to hear more and provide their input.”
Puy du Fou plans to “create a new British cultural and historical attraction” for the UK. Its vision is as follows:
British cultural and historical attraction
“A British Puy du Fou will be a place where visitors can walk in a beautiful wooded park with stunning landscaped gardens, where they can immerse themselves in British history with carefully curated period villages; and where they can experience a series of world-class live shows based on the country’s history, which will amaze the whole family.”
Instead of rides and coasters, Puy du Fou’s theme parks offer spectacular shows, immersive experiences and period villages. It has two permanent locations – in Les Epesses in the Pays de la Loire region of western France and Toledo, Spain.
Earlier this year, Puy du Fou opened Saga City of Light, its first attraction in China. It’s also creating a new show about Cherokee history in Sevier County, Tennessee.
