Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire, UK is looking for the world’s first “poo keeper” to join its team for Halloween.
The zoo says its ideal candidate must have “a great sense of humour” and should not be “afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck into something smelly”.
Via a press release, the zookeepers at Twycross Zoo have reported that hundreds of kilograms of dung is mucked out every day. In fact, there’s so much poo at the zoo that the specialist poo keeper role has been created to deal with it.
“Whilst all of the zoo’s animals contribute to this incredible amount of poo, some of the biggest culprits are the Twycross Zoo’s herd of giraffes,” the press release says.
“Alongside the traditional zookeepers, this brand-new poo keeper will be stationed by the giraffes, where visitors can discover more than they bargained for about the world’s tallest animal.”
Halloween activities at Twycross Zoo
The successful candidate will clean up after the zoo’s animals and take part in its Halloween activities, including welcoming guests to the “smelly” area of the site during October half-term.
Also part of the job while mucking out the animals is spotting differences in their poop, which may suggest they need medical attention or a change in diet.
Twycross Zoo’s Halloween event includes a trick-or-treat trail featuring spooky stations and interactive challenges, as well as a live show, pumpkin painting and face painting.
These eerie experiences are available at the zoo from 19 October until 3 November.
Earlier this year, Twycross Zoo welcomed new animals including two silvery gibbons, as well as hundreds of thousands of new insects.
