New space designed to increase relaxation and mindfulness

Chromasonic Field, a new immersive wellness experience to enliven the senses, has opened in Los Angeles’ Arts District.

The new attraction has debuted following an acclaimed preview of Chromasonic at Milan’s Salone del Mobile in April 2024 in partnership with Google.

Chromasonic invites visitors to immerse themselves in a transformative exploration of light and sound, ultimately experiencing “profound enhancement of mental and emotional awareness”, a press release says.

Chromasonic Field spans 10,000 square feet and allows visitors to see sound and hear colour by translating sound frequencies to light, and light frequencies to sound, in real time.

This is achieved through proprietary, cutting-edge technology called Chromasonic Refrequencing, which is combined with spatial design in the installation “to awaken new sensory perceptions”, the press release adds.

Co-founding artist, Johannes Girardoni, said: “Chromasonic Refrequencing expands perception by making light audible and sound visible. Through this fusion of art and technology, we create environments that deepen sensory awareness, foster connection, and ground you in presence.”

In the Chromasonic Field environment, light and sound interconnect to promote states of relaxation, increased mindfulness, and a heightened sense of wellbeing.

Recent neuroscientific studies conducted by Chromasonic have shown significant improvements in participants’ mood and reduced anxiety.

Upon arrival, guests enter a dark ambient space to attune to their senses, before making their way to the Field, a vibrant light and sound constellation composed of “repeating translucent scrims that create a series of open and interstitial spaces”, says Chromasonic.

This multi-layered experiential environment houses 21 nodes, each activated by a single source of light and spatialised sound.

Chromasonic’s Satellite One in Venice, California, is the company’s first permanent installation.

Immersive or innovative wellness is a huge trend in the attractions business, as well as the wider travel and tourism industry. Wellness is one of the fastest-growing travel sub-sectors, projected to reach $8.5 trillion by 2027.
