tutankhamun immersive exhibition

Show includes a video mapping room, VR experience and hologram presentation

An immersive and hi-tech exhibition on Tutankhamun is set to launch at Immerse LDN, London’s newest entertainment district, for a 14-week run.

The exhibition opens on 28 March at Immerse LDN at Excel London Waterfront after welcoming more than 1.8 million visitors in 12 cities across three continents.

It is endorsed and and supported by the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo and created in collaboration with Egyptologists and historians.

Blending cutting-edge technology with Egyptian history, the London show will take guests through six unique galleries that look at the lives of the ancient Egyptians, and the young Pharaoh Tutankhamun.

Guests will enter the exhibition via an infinity room with a walking Anubis before heading to an immersive video mapping room with 8-metre-high, 360-degree projections spanning more than 1,200 square metres of surface.

There, they will learn about Egyptian history and cultural heritage, as well as the life of Tutankhamun, his tomb, and its groundbreaking discovery.

44 Hive Pluto Beeblade media engines provided the powerful server backbone for the exhibition, housed in 3 Beehive Chassis, driving 44 HD Epson projectors to bring the immersive experience to life.

Next, during a 30-minute movie, the discovery of the tomb is described in a recorded interview of British archaeologist Howard Carter.

Visitors will also enjoy a 360-degree VR experience set in the mystical Egyptian afterlife before entering another hi-tech space where they will see a hologram presentation bringing to life the entire mummification process of Tutankhamun.

Merging cutting-edge tech with Egyptian history

Finally, guests can enjoy what is described as an interactive digital metaverse walk-through of the Valley of the Kings, and at the end of the experience, they can take photos in the AI photo booth and become a citizen of ancient Egypt.

The exhibition also includes a selection of original ancient Egyptian artefacts, historical documents, educational displays, and an immersive soundtrack.

Tutankhamun: The Immersive Exhibition will run until 29 June, before leaving the UK to go on a wider European tour. The waitlist is now open here.
