Cosm Willy Wonka

Cosm, a global technology company that builds end-to-end solutions for immersive experiences,  has revealed it will launch its second Shared Reality cinematic experience on November 21, 2025, immersing fans in the world of the beloved 1971 classic, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

Willy Wonka follows Cosm’s highly successful debut of ‘The Matrix’ in Shared Reality and is the second film in Cosm’s partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures, Little Cinema, and MakeMake.

Created in collaboration with Warner Bros. Pictures, Little Cinema, and MakeMake, this family-friendly film will appeal to viewers of all ages, reimagining Willy Wonka in a fresh way and reigniting the enchantment that captivated audiences over 50 years ago.

Blending nostalgia, innovation, and immersion

Using Cosm’s proprietary technology, which features 87-foot diameter 12k+ LED domes and full-dome filmmaking, Willy Wonka will be screened in its classic format. Meanwhile, the surrounding environment will transform with dynamic visuals and playful effects designed to draw viewers further into the film’s magic.

The latest cinematic Shared Reality experience will take long-time fans and families into the marvel of the famous Chocolate Factory, offering an enhanced, multisensory journey that combines innovative immersive storytelling with tastings of sweet treats.

“We are beyond thrilled to debut our second film in Shared Reality alongside our extraordinary partners, Warner Bros, Little Cinema, and MakeMake,” says Alexis Scalice, vice president of business development and entertainment at Cosm.

“Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at Cosm marks an exciting evolution in cinematic family entertainment, blending nostalgia, innovation, and immersion to create a fan experience like no other.”

Following success of The Matrix in Shared Reality

In June 2025, Cosm, Warner Bros. Pictures, Little Cinema, and MakeMake launched the world’s first cinematic Shared Reality experience – a groundbreaking production of The Matrix celebrating its 25th anniversary. It drew huge demand, with almost all initial screenings selling out within the first two weeks.

To accommodate the response, Cosm recently added new showings and extended The Matrix’s run in Shared Reality through August 2025, with more dates being considered.

“We were excited to work with Cosm on the first-ever presentation of this kind in celebration of The Matrix, and thrilled with the results,” says Jeff Goldstein, president, Warner Bros. Pictures Global Distribution.

“Audiences truly embraced this unique sight and sound experience, so it was an easy ‘yes’ when the opportunity to dig into the extensive Warner catalog and give Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory – one of the most enduring and beloved films of several generations of moviegoers – the Cosm treatment.”

Expanding the storytelling

“Willy Wonka has been a creative tentpole for us – a film that shaped our upbringing and expanded our sense of what’s possible when imagination leads,” says Jay Rinsky, founder and chief creative officer of Little Cinema.

“To now have the chance to expand the storytelling around the frame, enhancing its most pivotal moments in partnership with Cosm’s groundbreaking format, MakeMake’s visual effects wizardry, and Warner Bros.’ iconic legacy… It’s an honor, and a full-circle dream realized.”

“What makes a project like this so exciting is the chance to blend creative exploration with technological innovation,” adds Kirk Shintani, creative director at MakeMake.

“With Cosm’s cutting-edge tools and our deep love for the source material, Wonka becomes a one-of-a-kind immersive experience. Our ongoing collaboration with Cosm and Little Cinema lets us build on a shared creative language—and create something that honors and expands the world that first captivated audiences in 1971.”

Earlier this year, Cosm announced the expansion of its Premium Media Program. This program offers an affordable and flexible option for dome theatres utilising Digistarto to access fulldome content.
