The new Galacticoaster is opening in early 2026

Legoland California has unveiled and named its new space-themed indoor coaster, following suit after Legoland Florida confirmed the Galacticoaster name.

Galacticoaster, Legoland California’s first new coaster in more than 20 years, is opening in early 2026, with the track now being installed at the ride’s location in Fun Town.

Built inside a 30,000-square-foot building that stands at over 30 feet high, the attraction has been under construction for more than a year with a global crew of over 500 builders.

The building is known as Spaceport 886, named after one of the original Lego Space Buggy sets (#886).

Riders on Galacticoaster will be strapped into a customised spacecraft before flying through cosmic scenes in the Lego galaxy on nearly 1,500 feet of track.

“Galacticoaster is going to launch Legoland California into a whole new galaxy of fun,” said Flora Liu, senior project manager at Merlin Magic Making.

“It’s our first coaster here in more than 20 years and part of Merlin’s largest-ever Legoland investment – $90 million to bring Galacticoaster to both Legoland California and Legoland Florida.

“We’ve pulled inspiration from Lego sets families have loved for decades, while layering in modern technology to create the most immersive and personalized coaster experience yet.”

As above, Galacticoaster is set to be the most technologically advanced attraction ever created at Legoland Florida and Legoland California.

At Legoland California, the ride will be part of a new themed land (pictured above), which includes two additional space-themed attractions, a toddler play area, and space-inspired F&B and retail outlets.

“In both locations the boundless creativity of Lego will meet the wonders of space – setting a new standard for fun and imagination, and once again providing guests with a new reason to visit these destination resorts,” said Fiona Eastwood, CEO of Merlin Entertainments, earlier this year.
