Cosm, a global technology company that builds end-to-end solutions for immersive experiences, has added two Cosm Studios Original productions to its Premium Media Program, which offers a cost-effective and versatile way for dome theatres running Digistar to access fulldome content.
Produced in collaboration with its creator partners, Cosm Studios presents Big Wave: No Room for Error, a visceral surf experience from award-winning photographer and filmmaker Bo Bridges; and kaleidoscopic journey The Psychedelic Mixtape from Chris Holmes, renowned DJ, artist, and founder of art production company Fascinated by Everything.
These two releases join the Program’s growing catalogue of acclaimed and exclusive immersive shows.
Adrenaline & awe
Cosm Studios, the company’s content and storytelling division, collaborates with an interdisciplinary community of talented artists, filmmakers, technologists, and experiential designers to push the limits of immersive storytelling and design, while promoting the art of fulldome filmmaking and the immersive creator ecosystem.
Its new releases, Big Wave and The Psychedelic Mixtape, enrich the potential for dome theatre programming and offer Program members compelling, sensory-driven storytelling to inspire and engage their visitors.
Big Wave places audiences directly into the adrenaline-filled realm of extreme surfing in a show that combines high-resolution visuals, personal narratives, and direct, live-action cinematography.
Viewers are transported to Portugal, Hawaii, and Tahiti, where they will experience some of the planet’s heaviest waves, and gain insight into the minds of the fearless surfers taking on these treacherous breaks.
In The Psychedelic Mixtape, audiences are immersed in an entrancing audiovisual exploration of consciousness, made using bespoke LED kaleidoscopes, laser sculptures, and field recordings of special locations and natural wonders.
The result is an immersive fusion of light and nature which transcends traditional narrative structures to evoke deep emotional and introspective reflection.
These titles join a lineup of popular Cosm Studios Original productions that include Moonraker VFX’s Inside Pop Art, Nancy Baker Cahill’s SEEK, Ricardo Romaneiro’s LIQUIDVERSE: Microcosm & Macrocosm, and Guy Reid of Planetary Collective’s award-winning Orbital.
Empowering partners
Cosm’s Premium Media Program offers a collection of over 50 high-quality immersive films.
This fresh, bespoke, and dynamic programming enables members to grow their audiences and community reach. Operators can choose and change four or more films each year, rather than committing to a single high-cost, long-term license. This offers exceptional value and keeps audiences engaged, inspired, and coming back for new experiences.
The Premium Media Program offers:
- Comprehensive and meaningful teaching opportunities. Facilitated by educational guides, classroom resources, and marketing tools.
- Pricing based on dome size and attendance. This approach ensures that the Program is an accessible investment for domes of all sizes.
- A selection of four or more films per annum. Rather than committing to a single high-cost, long-term license, members can choose four or more films per year. These can be rotated on an annual basis.
- A tested library of over 50 immersive films. Topics cover science, education, art, and entertainment, with varied and acclaimed content created by renowned institutions such as the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) and Cosmic Pictures.
Cosm is dedicated to extending its collection of Premium Media Program films with family-oriented science, entertainment, and education titles, and will continue to add new, exclusive original content by Cosm Studios.
Building on its existing collaborations with Cosmic Pictures and AMNH, the company will add further inspiring and cinematic films to the library by continuing to expand its network of proven fulldome producer partnerships.
Neil Carty, VP, head of Cosm Studios at Cosm, says: “At Cosm, we’re focused on equipping our science and education partners with bold, high-impact content that drives engagement and expands what’s possible in domes – beyond the capabilities of Digistar and traditional programming.
“With Big Wave and The Psychedelic Mixtape joining our Premium Media Program, we’re empowering planetariums and science centers to captivate new audiences and reimagine their guest experiences. These titles reflect our continued commitment to supporting dynamic, audience-driven experiences that advance our partners’ educational, cultural, and institutional missions.”
Earlier this month, Cosm announced the upcoming launch of its second Shared Reality cinematic experience. Opening on 21 November, the experience is set to immerse fans in the world of the beloved 1971 classic, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
