Colchester Zoo is reopening after lockdown on December 2

Colchester Zoo

Colchester Zoo has announced that it will be reopening after the second lockdown on December 2. Pre-booking is essential in light of COVID-19.

UK attractions, including theme parks, museums and zoos, recently closed their doors once again ahead of the second national lockdown, which ends on December 2.

COVID-19 case numbers were rising rapidly across the UK. In response to this, the government ordered certain businesses and venues to close by November 5.

The four-week lockdown will be replaced by a three-tier system, with exceptions made for the ‘five days of Christmas’.

In a statement, Colchester Zoo said: “We are waiting advice as to which tier we will fall within for confirmation as to whether we can open our indoor areas.”

Visitors must pre-book tickets to Colchester Zoo

“Please take this into consideration when choosing to book,” it added. “We will update our website with further details as soon as possible.”

Colchester Zoo also said that all visitors must pre-book a timed ticket online and in advance. Tickets are available to book for visits over the festive period between December 2 and 24.

On its website, Colchester Zoo said: “The majority of Colchester Zoo is open-air, over 60 acres with wide pathways and open areas.

“We hope that this will be an ideal location for those who would like to venture outside and reconnect with nature but within a safe environment.

‘Reconnect with nature within a safe environment’

“We have carried out the relevant risk assessments and have prepared the park to ensure a safe visit for everyone. In order to re-open safely we have introduced a number of restrictions and conditions which we kindly ask visitors to please comply with.

“We would also ask for your patience and understanding as we continue to make adjustments to the conditions as new guidelines are outlined to us.”, a leading creator of mobile visitor apps, recently partnered with Colchester Zoo in order to provide a new guest-facing mobile app.
