Creative Works unveils Indiana Jones-Inspired Laser Tag at The Summit

Creative Works, the theming company and attractions provider, has announced the opening of a new custom laser tag attraction at a venue in Colorado. The Summit Thornton FEC now boasts an Indiana Jones-inspired laser tag adventure.

The Summit Thornton is the third Summit site in Colorado and offers 24 lanes of bowling, a 175-seat bar and grill, a game room and the Hidden Temple laser tag adventure. The FEC venue covers 50,000 square feet and opened in February 2019. The Summit turned to Creative Works to create the exciting custom themed laser tag experience.

Laser tag adds value to FECs

The Summit owner Don MacBrayne has over 35 years of experience in the industry, including a previous role with Brunswick Retail Bowling. He was keen to include a laser tag offer in this new site, having seen first-hand how it can add value to an FEC, “In the early days of Brunswick Zone XL, we determined that laser tag was a great component to the overall mix,” he said. “Like bowling, laser tag is something that three generations of family can do together. It is a wonder component to corporate group events and birthday parties and is generally a well-received activity for our casual guests.” He knew that laser tag needed to be a part of the attraction mix at the Thornton location, and wanted to create a unique experience.

The Hidden Temple Laser Tag Adventure has two levels and covers 4,000 square feet. It features interactive snake head bases, a realistic aqueduct and a 16-foot snake tower centre prop. Players are immersed in the Indiana Jones-style adventure by the inclusion of wall murals depicting temple ruins, rainforest scenes and even an erupting volcano. Visitors enter the arena through a custom designed entryway where the door signage is shaped like snakes, alongside a rainforest wall mural and a Medusa medallion.

Creative Works laser tag adventure encourages repeat play

The new laser tag installation is already seeing repeat custom according to MacBrayne, “People are coming back for laser tag! Our arena is so unique in design and layout that people love it and keep discovering new play opportunities.”

MacBrayne runs The Summit with an emphasis on operational efficiency. He knows that the positive experience that customers have will keep them coming back for more. The Hidden Temple laser tag adventure is a key part of The Summit’s overall experience, “We don’t consider laser tag as just an incremental [piece],” he said. “It is a major component along with our games, bowling, food and bar. If a vest is down, it’s as critical as a lane being down.”
