A new roller coaster is coming to Linnanmäki Amusement Park in Helsinki, Finland and it will be ready to launch in 2019.
Dubbed Taiga, the new ride is a launch coaster that will have a top height of 52m and a track length of 1,104m – the longest in Finland. It will feature two launches and four inversions, reaching a top speed of 106kmph.
“We are very excited to finally announce that Linnanmäki is making its greatest ride project ever in co-operation with ride manufacturer Intamin,” said Pia Adlivankin, managing director of Linnanmäki. “This most unique high-profile launch coaster can be described as a coaster enthusiasts’ dream.”
Intamin is a European ride manufacturer with roller coasters in operation all over the world. Its portfolio includes California Screamin’ (now the Incredicoaster) at Disneyland, Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens and Colossus at Thorpe Park.
“It was an easy choice to select Intamin as our ride provider, since they had the most creative layout suggestion for our challenging terrain. We are truly satisfied with our biggest ride acquisition ever.” said Anssi Tamminen, technical director at Linnanmäki.
Linnanmäki expects Taiga to be one of the most exciting rides in Europe.
Sascha Czibulka, executive vice-president of Intamin, said: “This coaster will impress everyone. The final layout design phase was a true collaborative effort with Linnanmäki, and we were able to come up with a roller coaster which will set new standards not only in Finland but in the whole Northern Europe and even beyond.”
Taiga will launch during the 2019 season.
