Meet Vincent van Gogh Experience now open on London’s South Bank

Meet Vincent van Gogh, the award-winning touring Van Gogh Museum experience, is now open for visitors on London’s South Bank.

The Meet Vincent van Gogh Experience, an award-winning immersive exhibition on the artist’s life and work, is the creation of Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum. Along with partners Golden Tours and PROACTIV: Live Entertainment, the Museum has now brought the experience to the UK capital, following successful runs in Seoul and Barcelona.

Tickets are now on sale for the experience, which opened to the public on 7 February 2020 and runs until 21 February. It can be found in a convenient central London location, close to Waterloo Station and not far from iconic attractions such as the National Theatre, Jubilee Gardens and the London Eye.

Meet Vincent

This touring exhibition is interactive and multisensory. It brings together the Van Gogh Museum’s expertise and research on the much-loved artists with innovative displays and accounts of the artist’s life in his own words, based on letters he wrote to his brother Theo.

Meet Vincent van Gogh allows the Van Gogh Museum to make his work accessible to people around the world, overcoming the challenges of transporting and displaying fragile original works.

Visitors enjoy a fully automated audio guide which is triggered as they explore various parts of the exhibition. During the experience, they are invited to touch and interact with innovative sets and recreations of scenes from the artist’s life, including the countryside or Arles and his asylum in St. Rémy. The exhibition also reflects on Van Gogh’s legacy and the impact he has had on artists and creatives all around the globe.

Inspiring new audiences

Arnold van de Water is the General Manager of the Meet Vincent van Gogh experience. He says, “2019 has been an outstanding year for Meet Vincent van Gogh and Van Gogh Museum experiential content. From Barcelona to Seoul, the Experience has achieved precisely what the Van Gogh Museum intended it to: enriching and inspiring people around the world.

“With this momentum behind us, we are excited to maximise our impact in London and Lisbon with exceptional venues and highly-experienced partners.”

Mikesh Palan, Managing Director of Golden Tours adds, “Meet Vincent van Gogh is the ideal addition to  London’s arts and cultural attractions scenes. As an official Van Gogh Museum experience, it brings not only the prestige of the museum but also a strong understanding of how to attract a diverse audience. This, combined with Golden Tours’ long-standing expertise in London attractions and events, makes for a very successful collaboration.”

Finally, Nicolas Renna, Managing Partner of PROACTIV: Live Entertainment says, “Collaborating for a second time with the Meet Vincent van Gogh team reasserts the success of the Experience in Barcelona and the universal relevance of Vincent van Gogh’s unique life story. PROACTIV is excited to continue creating a wonderful experience for our visitors in London.”

The immersive touring experience is also heading to Lisbon, Portugal, later in 2020.
