The tender window is now open for the Dutch Pavilion at the World Expo 2020 in Dubai.
Details of the prestigious project were published on Tenderned on 15 June 2018. Interested parties have until 12 noon on 3rd September 2018 to submit their proposal.
Consideration should be given to everything from the interior and exterior design to the construction, maintenance and dismantling of the pavilion. Innovation and sustainability are key messages.
Dutch participation in Expo 2020 Dubai is seen as a major opportunity to showcase what the Netherlands has to offer in terms of innovative and sustainable solutions concerning water, energy and food – and particularly the connection between them.
The country aims to strengthen cooperation between the Netherlands and the Gulf region in these areas, with the hope that it will lead to more partnerships in other areas.
The Dutch Pavilion is a major highlight in a multiyear campaign launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the run-up to the Expo. Entitled ‘Dutch Dubai: Dutch connection in the Gulf’, it involved partnerships with businesses, knowledge institutions, NGOs and authorities on a wide range of activities. The key focus was water, energy and food.
The Netherlands hopes that its pavilion will not only entrance visitors but will also ‘serve as a platform that brings together businesses, knowledge institutions and authorities’.
According to Expo 2020 Dubai, the Dutch Pavilion will be one of 180 – the first time that every participating nation in a World Expo has its own pavilion.
