HTC VIVE, a leading virtual reality (VR) platform and ecosystem, has announced that it will be bringing its state-of-the-art VIVE Focus 3 to FECs across the globe, powering memorable free-roam VR experiences.
VIVE Focus 3 is a standalone VR headset for LBE experiences. Thanks to the company’s new VIVE LBSS Suite, each headset can support a cordless, multiplayer, free-roam VR experience with 6DoF tracking. As a result, players can move and interact in play spaces as large as four tennis courts put together. VIVE Focus 3 also features 6E wireless technology, meaning that it can seamlessly stream 5K VR with lower latency and higher bandwidth, for seamless immersive experiences.
An ideal free-roam solution for FECs
“VIVE’s LBE mode and untethered VIVE Focus 3 is the de-facto free roam solution to accommodate our arenas,” says Awane Jones, CEO of location-based experience company Phenomena. “We launched with it and the response from the industry has been outstanding. Additionally, VIVE’s map-sharing features for co-location have been instrumental in getting customers quickly into gameplay. Quicker throughput has been key to increasing ROI for operators.”
The new capabilities of the VIVE Focus 3 headset include:

This means there is no need to perform a room set up for each headset, and also saves entertainment centres time and resources, so that players can start gaming straight away.
- Designed for High-Traffic, Large Spaces: The VIVE Focus 3 features durable materials, in order to deliver long-lasting VR performance. Plus, the swappable battery reduces operational complexity. It’s also easy to clean and keep sanitized between sessions thanks to the magnetic cushions.

HTC VIVE has also announced the launch of its new Location Based Software Suite (LBSS). This series of new software features for VIVE Focus 3 is designed to enhance location-based services and training scenarios.
