Gardaland has announced a new Jumanji-themed attraction for spring 2023. ‘Jumanji – The Labyrinth’ is based on Sony Pictures’ $2 billion film franchise.
Described as “a wild jungle maze, a labyrinth of mirrors and a tunnel infested with snakes”, the immersive attraction will be located next to Jumanji – The Adventure, Gardaland’s new family-friendly dark ride.
Visitors will “further immerse themselves in the adventurous world of Jumanji“, said Jeffrey Godsick, executive vice chairman of global partnerships and brand management and head of location-based entertainment at Sony Pictures.
‘Jumanji – The Labyrinth’
The Jumanji film franchise has made more than $2 billion around the world since the first film, starring Robin Williams, was released in 1995.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released in 2017, and Jumanji: The Next Level in 2019. Both star Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan.
“The premier theme park in Italy – Gardaland – just got even better thanks to our long-time partners at Sony Pictures Entertainment,” added Scott O’Neil, CEO of Merlin Entertainments.
“Continuing to bring the Jumanji world to life for our guests is an absolute dream come true for our growing number of visitors at the resort, and even more fun for our award-winning creative teams of Merlin Magic Makers.

“Increasingly, brands are looking for ways to connect with their audiences by bringing those film/stars to life and Merlin Entertainments is the one unencumbered theme parks and attractions business with the scale needed to connect with fans around the world.”
Chessington, also part of Merlin, has teamed up with Sony Pictures to open the world’s first Jumanji-themed land in spring 2023.
Merlin announced its partnership with Sony Pictures earlier this year. The company plans to add Jumanji-branded rides, lands and hotel rooms to its destinations across the globe.
Elsewhere, Spain’s PortAventura World has partnered with Sony Pictures to open the world’s first ‘dark ride roller coaster’ inspired by Uncharted.
