Kraemer Design + Production, a leading designer of children’s museum exhibitions, science centres, theme parks and entertainment centres, has been helping at a local food pantry to support its community.
Last week, the company took part in PlayCore’s twice-yearly Day of Caring. The first event for 2023 took place on 19 April and saw brands across the PlayCore family dedicate their time to supporting their local communities.
Kraemer Design + Production regularly donates its employees’ time, and for this event chose to work with St. Vincent DePaul in downtown Cincinnati at the Becky and Ted Catino Food Pantry. St. Vincent DePaul has been offering support to those in need throughout Greater Cincinnati for over 150 years. This might be emergency assistance or practical, spiritual, or emotional support.
The Becky and Ted Catino Food Pantry is part of the organisation’s network of food pantries across Greater Cincinnati – which together fed over 55,000 people in 2021 alone.
Connecting with the community
The volunteers spent four hours at the centre, working in two teams across both front and back-of-house roles.
In the back-of-house, the Kraemer Design + Production team helped to sort donations and restock the shelves, covering dry and tinned goods and personal items as well as book donations.
Front-of-house volunteers helped guests with their shopping, packed their bags and loaded their goods in their cars. They also focused on building getting to know the guests – chatting, making them smile, and letting them know how important they are.
Dayna Patrick, volunteer coordinator at SVDP, says: “We really appreciated KD+P’s help in our food pantry.”
The next Day of Caring will take place in November.
Kraemer Design + Production recently designed a new project for Mississippi Children’s Museum Jackson, Rocky’s House: The Traveling Exhibit. This exhibit opened in February 2022 and is named after Rocky the Reader, an enthusiastic young dog who enjoys reading, playing literacy games, and travelling with his friends.
