Rainbow Productions, a leading character events company and mascot manufacturer, is celebrating the expansion of its portfolio with a new range of major costume characters.
Over 140 licensed children’s characters are available from the company for personal appearances. The new additions include TV, streaming or publishing favourites. The characters selected are all achieving high levels of recognition, with a growing demand for events.
- True, from TV series True and the Rainbow Kingdom. This animation follows the adventures of eight-year-old True as she rescues the citizens of the Rainbow Kingdom.
- The Original Stormtroopers. These iconic characters are represented under the Shepperton brand, and are off-duty and mischievous.
- Master Moley, from MoleTown. This cheerful creature is the star of the animated series.
- Mia and Twinkle from CGI-animated web series Little Baby Bum. The series uses song and repetition to support children’s language development.
- Janet and Bill from The Smeds and The Smoos. These two characters star in the latest book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
The new characters are all now available to book for meet-and-greet events. Appearances can take place at third-party events and locations such as shopping centres, theme parks, retailers and festivals.
Selected characters also offer musical performances. The Original Stormtroopers can be hired with a dance routine add-on, and Little Baby Bum appearances can include a sing-along activity.
Brand awareness, engagement and retail benefits
Character appearances are extremely popular with young fans, increasing brand awareness and customer engagement. Retail events directly increase average sales on character-related items – by up to 200% in some circumstances.
Rainbow Productions also works with some of the best-trained actors in the unique medium of costume character depiction. This ensures that the chosen character’s personality and trademark gestures are expressed.
Magdalena Foulkes, Rainbow Productions licensing director, says: “From established hits like Peppa Pig and the Teletubbies to these enormously popular recent favourites like Master Moley and Janet and Bill, the demand for children’s characters appearing in person is stronger than ever – from kids, parents, retailers, theme parks, festivals and more. We’re thrilled to be recognised as the go-to name for UK licensed character appearances.”
Rainbow Productions has recently been exhibiting at leading trade shows in the Middle East. Events such as the Saudi Entertainment and Amusement (SEA) Expo and Dubai Entertainment Amusement and Leisure (DEAL) exhibition (where they revealed their own mascot) have built on the firm’s strong presence in the region.
