Sim Leisure Group, a Malaysian-owned theme park and leisure company, has announced plans to reopen KidZania in Singapore in the first quarter of next year.
KidZania, an edutainment brand offering interactive cities for children, closed its venue on Sentosa Island during the pandemic in 2020 due to financial difficulties.
Sim Leisure Group, which already operates KidZania Kuala Lumpur, has entered into a tenancy agreement with Sentosa Development Corporation to open KidZania in the same premises.
The company will refurbish the 7,600-square-metre location, which first opened in April 2016, adding new attractions and experiences.

“The perceptive guests of today are beyond inquisitive, and encouraging curiosity especially among the young ones is key as they discover new ways of thinking through play,” said Thien Kwee Eng, CEO of Sentosa Development Corporation (via CNA).
“As Sentosa continues to refresh our offerings, we are confident that KidZania Singapore will be an integral part in our revitalisation of Palawan Beach and its vicinity into a compelling family-centric precinct.”
Sim Leisure Group’s founder and chairman Sim Choo Kheng said the new Kidzania will be a “runaway success”. He added: “This time I will make sure KidZania Singapore is here to stay.”
Founder and CEO of KidZania, Xavier López Ancona, added: “In addition to helping kids realise their aspirations and pursue their passions, our mission is to help them develop a solid foundation of values and lifelong skills.”

Founded in 1997, KidZania has 27 attractions across the globe. It welcomes more than 10 million visitors annually in over 23 countries. “The concept is very simple,” López told blooloop in 2018.
“On the one side, KidZania is entertainment, it’s fun. However, on the other side, it has a very strong educational aspect, and educational content.”
Earlier this year, Sim Leisure Group announced an innovative new ticketing system using facial recognition technology, as well as an evolution of its Escape brand.
