Coaster offers adaptable layouts and interactive elements with gaming, speed control and tilting seats

Maurer Rides, a leading designer and manufacturer of roller coasters and transport solutions, will present its new Speed Chaser roller coaster concept at IAAPA Expo Europe 2023.

The event is the biggest tradeshow for the leisure and attraction industry in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and is taking place 25-28 September in Vienna, Austria.

The Speed Chaser roller coaster offers an adaptable ride with a small footprint, and promises an exciting ride for families and thrill-seekers alike with the addition of titling seats, boosters, gaming, shooting and light gates.

Adaptable layout

The coaster boasts 8-seater trains and 2-seater racers. These can be used alternatively or at the same time on the track, and give operators more possibilities as they can deploy different vehicles based on visitor frequency or offer passengers a choice.

Seats have a 45-degree tilt function, which can be activated at any point on the track by the riders or programme control. This can be used to add to build the intensity of the experience, for example, if activated at the camelback.

The Speed Chaser is built with market-leading spike drive technology, combined with an exceptionally small footprint. Requiring a space of just 60m x 50m, the coaster offers a wide range of options for all spaces and audiences, along with layouts that have been optimised for spike.

In-ride gaming & speed control

The Speed Chaser also offers interactive features to engage visitors. A throttle and boost button enables riders to control their own speed, complete with brake lights and speed-dependent engine noise. Visitors can also activate in-ride games. Targets are built into the top of track light gates, and a shoot button enables visitors to collect points. An onboard touchscreen video system offers additional opportunities for visitor engagement and income generation.

Maurer Rides gave staff an exclusive test ride on the Spike Fun prototype earlier this year. The team experienced Maurer Rides’ brand-new product at Skyline Park, Germany. Spike Fun is the world’s first roller coaster featuring 45 degree backwards tilting seats.
