ART Engineering, an amusement ride manufacturer that develops roller coasters, dark rides, carousels, water rides and more, has collaborated once more with Lagoon, a popular theme park in Farmington, Utah, US, this time to create a new interactive dark ride coaster named Primordial. The attraction is located near Cannibal, a mega coaster, which is also from ART Engineering.
The firm developed new roller coaster vehicles specifically for Primordial. The train consists of two vehicles, each carrying up to four people. The vehicles are boarded in the middle, and two riders sit on the left and two riders sit on the right. This means a family of four can enjoy the interactive ride together.
The idea for the new coaster came about in 2015, however, the pandemic delayed the opening for a number of years.
An interactive experience
After a chain lift that is around 26 metres high, the cars travel through plenty of drops and twists, before approaching a large artificial mountain. Depending on the interaction, the cars then turn different ways, and then proceed at a slower pace through a number of interactive screens.
The trains are routed into two distinct tracks at a switch to maintain capacity. Riders on the first path descend vertically, while riders on the second way experience a different finale. Once at the bottom, a switch is used to bring the trains to the main path, where they are then led into the station.
The ride covers a flor area of 70 x 100 metres, and reaches a height of 26 metres. It has a top speed of 65 kilometres per hour and it 605 metres long. The minimum rider height requirement is 105 centimetres.
This is the third coaster that ART Engineering has developed in partnership with Lagoon, following the family coaster Bombora, which opened in 2011 and the mega coaster Cannibal, which opened in 2015.
ART Engineering, which celebrates 20 years in the business this year, will be exhibiting at IAAPA Expo Europe in Vienna next week, and attendees can meet the team at booth #A-1026.
Recently, ART Engineering spoke to blooloop about the creation of its new Wild Swing attraction, and representatives from Potts Park, Fantasiana and Karls Erlebnis-Dorf outlined the benefits that the new ride has brought to their parks.
