Mythtopia, an eco-glamping resort with an augmented reality (AR) gaming experience, is set to open in Scotland next year.
According to the Mythtopia website, guests will be immersed in a world of Celtic mythology in the heart of a Scottish woodland. Activities on offer will include yoga, stargazing and lake swimming, and amenities will include a restaurant, bar and spa.
The resort’s AR game, called Legends, is a virtual world where visitors become a character in a magical kingdom of talking trees, fairies and dwarves.
Each character has their own story to tell, and challenges to unlock and complete. Guests will discover hidden secrets and places and interact with mythical creatures.

“You’ll find yourself walking through an amazing landscape of forests and lakes,” says the Mythtopia website.
“Encountering a talking tree, you’ll meet friendly fairies, and curious dwarves who offer to help you in your quest.”
As for sustainability at Mythtopia, the resort will be powered by renewable energy and will minimise its impact on the environment.
Founder of Mythtopia, Oliver Pyle-Santini, said (via Edinburgh Live): “Through Mythtopia, we are aiming to create a Scottish getaway with a difference in this new digital landscape, as well as an amazing experience to help unite families, teenagers, and adults alike.

“Something like this has never really been done before – and by blending together eco-tourism, gaming and the cryptosphere, we’re hoping to create a new era for travel and tourism.
“We have been very careful to maintain the cultural heritage of the land the site sits on, by entwining Celtic stories into the experience for all ages to enjoy.”
Located 20 minutes from Edinburgh on the grounds of a former golf course in West Linton, Mythtopia will include 150 glamping domes and lodges.
The resort hopes to open by spring 2024. Holidaymakers can visit by purchasing a ‘Myth NFT’.
