Christie, the global visual and audio technology company, has announced that the façade of the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple has been illuminated by its Griffyn Series RGB pure laser projectors for a magnificent son et lumière honouring the enduring legends of Lord Krishna.

The Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple, located in Mathura, a holy city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, is historically considered to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna, one of the most revered Hindu deities. This temple, which dates back to the sixth century BC, is one of the most popular religious sites in India and is a location of great significance.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Agra, launched the 40-minute nightly light and sound display, which depicts the life of Lord Krishna as a symbol of tenderness, patience, compassion, and love. Eight Christie Griffyn 4K32-RGB pure laser projectors, installed and commissioned by Modern Stage Service, a renowned systems integrator known for multiple projection mapping projects around India, were responsible for this captivating display.

Image quality and performance

“Bringing the legend of Lord Krishna to life through the captivating fusion of light and sound has been an incredible journey,” says Kartik Wadhwa, director of Modern Stage Service. “We are delighted to partner with Christie to strategically deploy the Griffyn Series projectors in weatherproof enclosures at the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple for this highly anticipated son et lumière, which reaffirms our commitment to delivering awe-inspiring visual experiences at one of India’s most cherished landmarks.”

Rishubh Nayar, sales director for India, Enterprise, Christie, adds: “This new light and sound show at the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple is a testament to the enduring power of storytelling through projection technology, and we are honored to be a part of this iconic endeavor. The Griffyn Series projectors not only bring historical narratives to life, but also showcase the immense potential of visual artistry at this sacred site, enriching the spiritual and cultural experience for countless pilgrims and visitors.”

Given its remarkable track record of lighting up large-scale monuments and venues across India, including the Statue of Equality in Telangana and the BAPS Sri Swaminarayan Mandir in Gondal, the Griffyn Series was an obvious option for this prestigious project. The Griffyn Series is renowned for its unmatched image quality and performance, and it has continuously produced striking visuals that have had a profound effect on viewers.

The all-in-one Griffyn Series is one of the smallest, lightest, and brightest RGB pure laser projectors on the market, with lumen settings ranging from 36,500 to 50,000. With the Christie TruLife+ electronics platform for all-in connection and electronic colour convergence (ECC) enabling flawless colour alignment, this 3DLP projector series produces colours that are rich and true to life, covering over 98% of the Rec. 2020 colour gamut.

Additionally, the Griffyn Series is compatible with Christie MystiqueTM, an automated camera-based alignment software solution that can efficiently manage and maintain multi-projection systems, and has incorporated Christie Twist for warping and blending.

Last month, Christie revealed that its high-performance RGB pure laser projectors are being used in a number of giant-screen and dome theatres at Mogao Grottoes Digital Exhibition Center in Jiuquan, China.
