Efteling Grand Hotel will be the theme park‘s largest hotel

Construction is underway on Efteling’s new hotel, with the first prefabricated facade elements of the building now in place.

The Efteling Grand Hotel will have 140 rooms and suites with a total of 644 beds. It will also house a swimming pool with spa facilities, two restaurants, and two gift shops.

More than 350 elements, ranging from 3,000 to 30,000 kilos, will be assembled at the construction site in the coming months, Efteling said in a press release.

From the ground floor to the roof, 5,400 square metres of prefabricated facade elements will be installed. These include render, frames, windows and doors.

After placing these elements on the ground and first floors, the structural work on the hotel’s interior can begin immediately.

Nicole Scheffers, Efteling’s director of park and resorts, said: “I am pleased that we can now move forward with construction. We have worked very hard behind the scenes and I am proud that our guests can finally see how special the Efteling Grand Hotel is going to be.”

Efteling has also topped out its new Danse Macabre attraction, with the highest point of the 20-metre-high building now installed.

New attractions coming to Efteling

Launching later this year, Danse Macabre is an eerie attraction with a unique ride system by Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides.

“Today is literally a high point for Danse Macabre. Autumn 2024 is slowly approaching, and I cannot wait for the creepiest piece of Efteling,” said designer Jeroen Verheij.

Efteling opened in the Netherlands in 1952 and has grown to become one of Europe’s biggest theme parks. The Efteling Grand Hotel is expected to open in 2025.
