WcDonald’s-inspired products and experiences will debut in more than 30 global markets

McDonald’s is launching several experiences based on WcDonald’s, the fast food chain’s fictional depiction in anime and manga.

From 26 February, WcDonald’s-inspired products and experiences will debut in more than 30 global markets, McDonald’s said in a press release.

One of these is an immersive dining experience in Los Angeles on 9 and 10 March. This will transport guests into the WcDonald’s universe via 360-degree projection mapping and tabletop projections, as well as WcDonald’s menu items.

Participating McDonald’s locations will also be serving WcNuggets with a limited-edition sauce – a combination of ginger, garlic, soy and chilli.

“Anime is a huge part of today’s culture, and we love that our fans have been inviting us into the conversation for years,” said Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s USA. “The WcDonald’s universe is a reflection of what fans have created. It honors their vision and celebrates their creativity, while authentically bringing it to life in our restaurants for the first time ever.”

McDonald’s has partnered with Japanese manga artist and illustrator Acky Bright, who has designed the special WcDonald’s packaging. Guests can scan a code on this packaging to access digital manga each week.

“I had a great time partnering with McDonald’s to help make WcDonald’s a reality for manga fans who have a genuine love for the brand,” said Acky Bright.

Additionally, the company has worked with Japanese animation studio Pierrot to produce the first official WcDonald’s anime, with four shorts arriving weekly alongside the manga from 26 February until 18 March.
